Wunderlich Securities nabbed an advisor with $70 million in client assets from Raymond James & Associates.

Thomas Johnson signed on with Wunderlich as a branch manager and will open an office for the firm in Richmond, Va., according to a statement from the company.

"I have worked with Tom for many years and am excited to have him on my team," said Wunderlich President James Parrish. Johnson and Parrish had previously worked nine years together at Morgan Keegan, before its sale to Raymond James in 2012. Johnson's career goes back to the 1970s, and includes stops at Davenport & Co. and Merill Lynch.

Johnson is joined by Debbie Tucker, who also worked with him at Raymond James and Morgan Keegan. She will serve as Johnson's assistant branch manager, and focus on building out the Richmond office.

Wunderlich is an investment bank with a financial advisory and brokerage, based in Memphis, Tenn. The firm also provides equity research. Wunderlich has over $8 billion in assets under management and operates in 30 offices across 16 states.
