Wells Fargo Securities has hired three new public finance investment bankers as the firm seeks to expand its program nationally.
The new members of the team “show Wells Fargo’s commitment to the growing needs of our clients,” according to Peter Hill, head of Wells Fargo Securities Public Finance.
He added that “our bankers work one-on-one with clients, during a time when they need it most, to help find the right solutions to ensure short- and long-term success.”
To ensure that success, Hill said two new hires have been added in the firm’s headquarters. Nikolai Sklaroff and Readie Callahan are based in San Francisco, reporting to David Johnson, head of the Western region.
Sklaroff joins as director and senior general muni banker and will be responsible for expanding the firm’s general municipal investment banking in California, Oregon, and Washington.
Before joining Wells Fargo, Sklaroff worked as an investment banker at Citigroup Global Markets, JPMorgan, and Loop Capital.
Callahan joins Wells Fargo as an associate in the Western region.
She will also focus on expanding client coverage with municipal clients in the Western states. Before joining Wells Fargo, Callahan worked at Greencoast Capital Partners.
Johnson says the hiring of Sklaroff and Callahan reflects Wells Fargo’s continued “growth mode.”
“Sklaroff and Readie bring a wealth of experience and will help find the right solutions for clients in the West region,” said Hill. Making new hires will allow the firm “to continue to enjoy its large footprint in the West.”
Hill said that typically, California is one of the busiest states when it comes to bond issuance.
“We are headquartered in California and want to make sure we are meeting the financial needs of all our clients we have in that region,” he said.
Hill added that expanding in San Francisco will ensure that the firm maintains and grows its market share.
Kevin Carney is also joining Wells Fargo. Carney joins the transportation group in the New York office and reports to managing director Nancy Feldman. He will focus on airports and ports in this new position.
Carney has previously worked as an investment banker and financial adviser in the airport and port sectors, most recently operating Infrastructure Capital Advisors.
He was also executive director at JPMorgan, where he was responsible for debt underwriting of municipal securities and was a senior credit officer for the U.S. airport and port sectors at Moody’s Investors Service.
“Transportation is a vital sector in the U.S. economy and the number of product applications we provide will only help clients in that sector,” Hill said. “We needed someone with Kevin’s experience to help us in that regard.”
Headquartered in San Francisco, the investment banking team of Wells Fargo Public Finance has 18 regional offices.
