SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, the full-service corporate and investment banking arm of SunTrust Banks, has beefed up its institutional fixed-income team with the addition of six professionals, the firm said today.
Robert Popowski will focus on growing the firm’s platform in the asset class as head of fixed-income institutional sales, trading and research, a Sept. 28 announcement said. He will be based in Atlanta and report to Mike Wheeler, head of sales and trading.
Meanwhile, Keith Dionis and John Patrick Walsh have both joined SunTrust Robinson Humphrey’s New York office. Dionis has been hired as a senior credit trader for the energy, utility and industrial sectors, while Walsh has joined the research team as a senior research analyst focusing on the healthcare, consumer and retail sectors.
SunTrust Robinson Humphrey also hired three senior salespeople to concentrate on “expanding institutional capabilities in the cross over and high yield fixed-income space, the announcement noted. Asa Beach and Ryan Moriarty are based in New York, while Dan Doyle will work in Atlanta.
Wheeler said the recent additions highlight the firm’s commitment to hiring “talented, seasoned professions.”
"Our recent additions illustrate our ongoing desire to deepen our capital markets penetration, by offering institutional investors and corporate issuers an even wider array of solutions and services, and continuing to evolve to meet their changing needs,” he said in the statement. “For example, the high yield market has been a specific point of emphasis for us recently given the anticipated needs of our clients in this category. We believe the diversity of issuer segments we serve, when combined with our broad solution set and research-driven sales and trading approach, creates a unique value proposition for both our issuer and institutional client base."
The SunTrust division offers fixed-income and equity research, sales and trading for institutional investors.
