Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel, a law firm focusing on fund representation, has brought on a new partner specializing in regulatory and compliance matters.

The firm, which works primarily with hedge funds and private equity funds, hopes that his experience will boost the firm’s Financial Services Practice, especially as the regulatory environment becomes increasingly complicated.

“George’s extensive experience counseling clients on a wide range of investment management matters and his particular expertise in the ever-changing financial regulatory landscape, will not only be a huge contribution to our widely-recognized team, but will also be of tremendous value to our clients,” Carl Frischling, co-head of Kramer Levin’s Financial Services Group, said.

Formerly a partner at Shulte Roth & Zabel, Silfen has primarily focused on counseling investment companies and investment advisory, brokerage, securities custody and transfer agent services. He has represented investment firms, their board of directors, investment advisors, and broker dealers in their dealings with investment products and services, including mutual funds, wrap accounts, and 401(k) and RIA products.

“We are pleased to have such a well-regarded and experienced investment funds lawyer join our firm,” Paul S. Pearlman, Kramer Levin’s managing partner, said. “His impressive reputation and complementary client base will further enhance our well-known Financial Services Group.”
