Morgan Stanley Smith Barney has hired two financial advisors from UBS Financial Services in Garden City, N.Y., On Wall Street has exclusively learned.

Paul Skydell and Harold Cohen previously had $2.6 million in annual fees and commissions and $260 million in client assets and under management. They report to Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Garden City, N.Y. Complex Manager John Campbell.

Skydell and Cohen had both been registered with UBS since November 2005, according to their public registration records with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.

“They are very comprehensive and diligent advisors, who are very detail oriented, and their businesses run that way as well,” said Steve Rosen, president of New York-based recruiting and consulting firm Rainmaker Associates. “I was happy to represent them at Morgan Stanley, and believe they made a good decision, and it will work out very well for them and their clients.”

The team’s move comes as wirehouse and regional firms continue to compete for financial advisory talent. Earlier this month, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney also brought on seven new advisors in New York, New Jersey and Ohio, as well as three advisors in New Jersey and Georgia.
